About

I am proud to call Brighton my home, a community that has shaped me into the person I am today. Growing up here, I have had experiences that have enriched my life in ways that I couldn’t have had anywhere else.

As a member of the younger generation, I believe it’s time for us to step forward and take a more active role in shaping our community. We cannot sit idly by and watch as our future, rights, and lives are slowly stripped away by those in power.

That’s why I’m running for the town board, to be a voice for the younger generation and all residents of Brighton. I want to ensure that our community remains vibrant, safe, and inclusive for everyone. I will work hard to make sure that our schools are top-notch, our businesses are thriving, and our voices are heard.

I know that navigating the political landscape can feel like a confusing and oppressive maze, but I believe that together, we can break through the confusion and create a better future for ourselves and future generations. So let’s take action, let’s vote, and let’s build a brighter future for Brighton.

ABOUT

Brighton has been my home since the young age of 12. My mom worked hard to move us here Specifically to raise us in this community. Brighton has provided my child hood with many experience I couldn’t have had anywhere else.

If it was not for my mom’s hard work and Brighton’s community, I wouldn’t be the person I am today! After many years living here and learning from those around me. I want to be more active in shaping that same community that made me who I am. I believe it’s time for me and the rest of the younger generation to take a step forward. The way things are looking we have to begin to be more active in communities! This is a call to action for all of us in the younger generation!

We can not sit idol whilst the people in power slowly strip us of our future, our rights, and our lives. We are stuck, in the politician’s labyrinth Our voices echo off the walls — lost in the elaborate maze of confusion and oppression We must break through this confusion And destroy all of thee oppression.

CORE VALUES AND IDEAS:

Maintaining and Creating Safer more Accessible Brighton

● Implement a “complete streets” policy to ensure that all new road projects take into account the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, and public transit users.

● Improve lighting in public areas to increase visibility and deter crime.

● Encourage mixed-use development to create more walkable neighborhoods with a mix of residential, commercial, and office spaces.

● Increase the availability of public restrooms to improve accessibility for all.

Reinforcing Brighton’s Community Communication:

● Engage the community in the planning process to ensure that the needs and priorities of all residents are taken into account.

● Complete budget transparency with the community.

● Actively encouraging participation in Town meetings by promoting meetings ahead of time, providing childcare and translation service to
make meetings more accessible for those with disabilities.

● Listening and Following through on the communicated needs and wants of the people from Town meetings.

● Increase the availability of public restrooms to improve accessibility for all.

● These events provide a forum for residents to share their concerns and ideas, and for town officials to provide updates and answer questions.

● Providing and promoting community education.

● Conducting Community Surveys.

Fabricating Affordable Housing Opportunities

● We should Encourage development of Affordable housing, offer incentives to developers to build affordable housing, such as tax breaks or expedited permitting.

● We could allocate funds in the budget to support programs that provide financial assistance to low-income households to help them afford housing.

● Encourage the conversion of existing buildings: provide funds for the conversion of existing buildings, such as unused commercial spaces, into housing to increase the supply of housing.

● We can Provide home repair and maintenance assistance: provide financial assistance or contractor services for low-income elderly homeowners to help them maintain their homes and keep them livable.

● We could start volunteer programs, such as “village” programs, which can help elderly homeowners with tasks such as transportation, home repairs and grocery shopping.

● We can offer counseling and education services to help elderly homeowners understand their options and resources, such as reverse mortgages, to help them retain their home
